Power2Practice and Praxis are both EHRs (Power2Practice home page, Praxis EMR home page). HANS is a desktop clinical assistant that most practitioners run beside the EHR they already have (How HANS works). If you need a system of record for prescribing, billing, scheduling, and lab interfaces, choose between Power2Practice and Praxis. If your record works and case prep and charting still take your evenings, HANS is the piece to test.

Written by the HANS team. Every Power2Practice and Praxis fact below comes from that vendor's own public pages and links to them. Prices on all three products can change, so get current rates from Power2Practice, Praxis, and HANS before you decide.

What Power2Practice is

Power2Practice's home page headline reads "The EMR Built for Functional Medicine" and says it has 10+ years in functional medicine and 20+ modules (Power2Practice home page). It describes one platform for charting, scheduling, billing, forms, messaging, lab ordering, and patient engagement (Power2Practice home page).

For clinical work, Power2Practice lists a Functional Systems Matrix, treatment and response timelines, and optimal-range goal tracking (Power2Practice home page). For orders, it lists in-chart lab ordering through Evexia Diagnostics and access to 2,500+ compound formulations through Wells Pharmacy Network at preferred pricing (Power2Practice home page).

The practice side is broad. Its pricing page lists e-prescribing, lab integrations, a televisit line, and 5 users in every plan (Power2Practice pricing page). Higher plans add basic inventory, an aesthetics module, and an IV and injection module (Power2Practice pricing page). The home page also lists configurable memberships, a branded patient portal, conditional forms, and multi-location dashboards (Power2Practice home page).

Power2Practice also sells P2PAI. Its home page says P2PAI captures the visit, organizes chart-ready information, and prepares documentation while the provider reviews every section before it saves (Power2Practice home page). It also lists chart summaries and historical document parsing (Power2Practice home page).

What Praxis EMR is

Praxis calls itself an "AI-Based EMR/EHR Software Rated #1 by Physicians" (Praxis EMR home page). Its core idea is template-free charting (Praxis functional medicine page). Praxis says its AI learns from each physician and gets faster the more it is used (Praxis functional medicine page). Praxis is certified under the ONC Health IT Certification Program as Praxis EMR Version 9, issued to Infor*Med Medical Information Systems (Praxis certification disclosures).

For functional medicine, Praxis publishes a "best EHR for functional medicine" page (Praxis functional medicine page). It argues that template-based EHRs slow functional medicine doctors down, and it lists integrated billing, integrated real-time labs, integrated eRx, a patient portal, and a clinical query engine (Praxis functional medicine page).

On AI notes, Praxis offers Reflective Ambient Intelligence (RAI) (Praxis EMR home page). Praxis says RAI merges ambient understanding with its Concept Processor so the system can reconcile AI-captured speech with the doctor's own prior clinical knowledge (Praxis EMR home page). Praxis is openly critical of generic ambient scribes on its home page, citing hallucination, consent, and privacy risks (Praxis EMR home page).

What HANS is

HANS is a desktop app for the clinical side of a functional medicine visit (How HANS works). Upload the intake, lab panels, and outside records, and it assembles the chart and pulls out the lab values (How HANS works). From there it answers case questions out of a curated clinical library and writes first drafts of the visit note, handouts, and referral letters for your sign-off (How HANS works, HANS home page). Each draft note also goes to a separate reviewing model that compares it with the chart data one section at a time, and a dose of "twice daily" written as "daily" gets flagged (How HANS works).

Before you weigh it against Power2Practice or Praxis, know three things:

  1. HANS works next to your EHR. Today it is not a full record system. It has no link to Power2Practice, Praxis, or any other EHR, so finished notes move over by copy and paste or as PDF or Word files (How HANS works).
  2. Every library answer is cited. Claims carry numbered markers tied to a Sources list, and clicking one opens the original document at the cited passage (How HANS works). The library holds 109 Clinical Intelligence Guides and more than 5,000 citations (HANS home page), and the assistant cannot search or fetch from the web (How HANS works).
  3. Some jobs stay with other tools. HANS has no interaction database for drugs and supplements, and as of today it does not order labs or prescribe, fax, or bill (How HANS works). There is no trial, and each purchase includes a 30-day money-back guarantee (How HANS works).

Pricing side by side

Power2Practice (per month, from the Power2Practice pricing page):

  • Essentials: starts at $349/month. 1 primary provider, 2 clinical support users, 2 office personnel, 1 location, 1 televisit line, AI, patient portal and e-sign, membership and program module (Power2Practice pricing page)
  • Premium: starts at $549/month. 2 primary providers, 3 clinical support users, 2 locations, 2 televisit lines, plus basic inventory, aesthetics, and IV and injection modules (Power2Practice pricing page)
  • Pro: starts at $1,149/month. 4 primary providers, 6 clinical support users, 4 office personnel, 3 locations, 4 televisit lines, inbound fax with 500 pages included (Power2Practice pricing page)
  • AI seat: $150 per provider per month for scribe and dictation, 2,000 minutes, then $0.07 a minute (Power2Practice pricing page)
  • Extras: additional primary provider $100, clinical support user $50, office personnel $25, televisit line $50, all per month (Power2Practice pricing page)
  • Power2Practice says exact pricing varies by provider count, locations, and add-ons (Power2Practice pricing page)

Praxis EMR (from the Praxis Version 9 pricing and additional information page):

HANS (per practitioner license, from HANS pricing):

  • Solo: $297/mo billed annually ($3,564/yr)
  • Growing: $549/mo billed annually, 2x the Solo usage allowance, links licenses into one practice
  • Established: $799/mo billed annually, 3x the Solo usage allowance, newest features first
  • Clinic: volume licenses with SSO and one invoice, priced on request
  • Admin accounts: $49/mo each, with at least one Growing or Established license in the practice

A worked example from published prices. A solo provider on Power2Practice Essentials who adds one AI seat would pay at least $499 a month ($349 + $150), or $5,988 a year before onboarding or extras (Power2Practice pricing page). Adding HANS Solo beside that EHR adds $3,564 for the year (HANS pricing). Praxis does not publish prices, so get a written quote that covers the license, yearly support, and any interfaces before you compare.

When to pick Power2Practice, Praxis, or add HANS

Pick Power2Practice if you want one functional medicine platform with memberships, IV and injection charting, compounding through Wells, in-chart Evexia lab orders, and inventory (Power2Practice home page).

Pick Praxis if you want a certified EHR with template-free charting that adapts to how you write, integrated and professional billing, and a quality reporting and query engine (Praxis functional medicine page). Praxis serves practices across specialties, so it fits groups where functional medicine is one service among several (Praxis EMR home page).

Add HANS beside either one if the EHR runs the practice well but complex cases still eat your evenings: reading outside records, connecting years of labs, checking what the evidence says, and turning it into a note and a plan the patient can follow. HANS drafts from what you discussed plus the documents, labs, and cited guidance behind the case (How HANS works).

For more EHR options, see the functional medicine EMR comparison or read the EMR software reviews.

Running HANS alongside your EHR

One way to divide the work:

  • Power2Practice or Praxis: the legal record, appointments, e-prescribing, lab orders and results, billing, and the portal
  • HANS: case prep from uploaded records and labs, cited answers to clinical questions, the first draft of each visit note, and patient handouts

HANS has no EHR integration, so each signed note goes into Power2Practice or Praxis by export or copy and paste (How HANS works). If double entry is a deal breaker for your team, the AI built into the EHR keeps the note in the chart: P2PAI on Power2Practice (Power2Practice home page) or Reflective Ambient Intelligence on Praxis (Praxis EMR home page).

Questions to answer before you add HANS

  1. From the moment you open a complex new-patient chart, how many minutes pass before the note is signed?
  2. How many of those minutes go to outside records and lab reports, and how many to typing?
  3. Would P2PAI or Praxis RAI already give you the note you need?
  4. During case prep, do you want answers that cite the evidence?
  5. Is your team willing to copy each signed note from HANS into the EHR?

When questions 2 and 4 take up most of your week, put HANS through 30 days with real patients under the money-back guarantee (How HANS works). When question 3 is a clear yes, the AI already in your EHR may be enough.
